Joining random group public instances might also be ok, but only if the world is relatively unpopular, not something like The Black Cat or Furry Hideout.

At first I hesitated registering for Furality thinking "Well, a part of why I visit furcons is to see friends I wouldn't see otherwise, but I already can see everyone in VR so what's the point?" Creating this kind of inviting vibe is the point I guess.

...I've wandered around group+ and group public instances occasionally, but 90% of conversations seemed to be about avatars and I have very little to contribute yet without much experience in avatar editing.

2 and 3 seem to be most... furgonomic. 3 for more species-specific clothes, 2 for more universal ones.
