I am into mobile Linux, and I like my Linux better with a keyboard.
Some size comparison pics between Minisforum em780 (7840U, 32GB, 1TB), Lunar 2-in-1 keyboard miniPC folded (8840U, 32GB, 1TB), GPD Mini 2023 (7840U, 64GB, 2TB), as well as a 20Ah and a 10Ah Iniu battery packs compatible with those.

And finally some Lunar vs. GPD Mini:

Some more pictures of Lunar 2-in-1 keyboard miniPC (8840U, 32GB, 1TB), GPD Pocket 3 (i7, 16GB, 2TB, 8" 16:10), GPD Mini (7840U, 64GB, 2TB, 6" 16:9), and F(x)tec Pro1 (Droidian Linux phone, 6GB, 256GB, 5.99" 21:9), all compatible with XR glasses thanks to DP alt mode.

Lunar 2-in-1 keyboard miniPC just arrived: built-in battery, Ryzen 8840U APU, 32GB, 1TB. A strong contender to my GPD Pocket 3 16/2 and GPD Mini 64/2 for everyday roductivity and pocket performance, though the GPD ones still have the edgenfor being usable in more situations.

How-to: dual-boot @droidianlinux and @JollaHQ SailfishOS (@adampigg's port) on @thefxtec Pro1A quick video of some Droidian features:This may be adapted to other secondary OSes, and may also work on Pro1x (though not tested).

First field test of my new travel setup: ✅

@thefxtec F(x)tec Pro1x (test unit)
@softwincn GPD Win 4, GPD Pocket 3
@Nreal Air AR glasses
USAMS 65W charger
Some clothes in the bottom of the backpack

I played MSFS2020 in High/Ultra on a 240cm-wide (perceived) screen in the train.

Setting up #Guix and trying to package some programs for it on the @softwincn GPD Pocket 3. I need moar terminals. Or more screens. Or more keyboards?

Got autorotation, touchscreen and stylus working nicely in Guix. Now is a good time to package shirah, a terminal ebook reader.

Some progress with #GNU #GUIX on @softwincn GPD Pocket 3. Slowly getting used to the keyboard (not to the non-standard layout yet though)

The next part is going to give me hell: updating and sorting dotfiles, fixing backlight, rotation, touchscreen and stylus, function keys…).

Some more pictures showing @thefxtec Pro1x running @adampigg's port of @JollaHQ SailfishOS together with LXC containers, and a wild @softwincn GPD Pocket 3 next to it for size comparison.

Some nice keyboard #MobileLinux devices, by increasing size:

@thefxtec Pro1x, 5.99"
@thepine64 Pinephone + keyboard, 5.95"
@softwincn GPD Micro PC, 6"
@softwincn GPD Pocket 3, 8",
@Xiaomi Air 13" (for reference)

Love them all, but the Pro1(x) remains my favourite EDC, by far.

The @droidianlinux logo was so beautiful on my blue @thefxtec Pro1x that I didn't even want it to finish booting.

And of course it did boot perfectly, and @eugenio_g7 even dramatically reduced boot time in recent updates. Shame on you!

Waydroid (somewhat) working on @adampigg's port of @JollaHQ SailfishOS on @thefxtec Pro1x. And the @Shadow_France app works in Waydroid! Together with LXC, that makes 3 OSes on the phone (2 local ones).

Many issues, but hopefully it's just the beginning:

My cat sisters using their new @thefxtec Pro1x with @JollaHQ SailfishOS (thanks to amazing porters @adampigg, NotKit and @Mister1Magister). 'problem with that, humans?

Family pics. The @thepine64 #Pinephone no longer is my only modern phone to boot on mainline. #postmarketOS on @thefxtec Pro¹ is new and has issues, but seeing this jewel boot a mainline distro put a stupid smile on my face. A dream come true! #somainline #droidian #mobilelinux

I have been using @thefxtec Pro1 since late 2019 and soon was happy with my typing speed, but it still keeps getting better two years later. I was at ~55 wpm in summer 2020, then 60 wpm & 252 cpm in December, and now 66 wpm & 280 cpm (more than 10% improvement) on my first try.

Some say there is no point in having full-fledged #MobileLinux distributions on phones because of their small screen. How about HDMI-out with @droidianlinux on @thefxtec Pro1? The Pro1 is the tiny blue light source at the bottom right.
April 2, 2025 at 9:00 AM
The @Unihertz #TitanPocket is a great little device, but @thefxtec Pro1 will remain the best poweruser phone for me: taller, but same width and thinner, screen size with no compromises, 2 times more keys for composing/coding, and multiple #MobileLinux OSes like @droidianlinux.

Tired of waiting for my pizza at the restaurant, I figured I could candidly kill time compiling Nyxt on Debian on @thefxtec Pro1? This very configurable and #opensource keyboard-oriented browser makes a perfect match with the Pro1. The missus did not share my enthusiasm, though.

10h left to get @thefxtec #Pro1x for ~530€ with the secret XDA perk unlocked with this url:A productivity device with multiple OS available, a small footprint, and 64-key on which I get 50 wpm.

Works with @Shadow_Official too if you want a full VM and the game in your own library. Mine is currently installing on GOG from my Pro1! Go get a Pro1x while you can for cheaper than a Pro1 with the secret XDA token in this url:

External display on @thefxtec #Pro1 running #UBports. The screens are connected to each other using DP daisy chaining. UBPorts just mirrors them. No way to set a virtual 3840x1200 monitor from CLI in Wayland afaiu, but base multimonitor support is in the UBPorts Edge channel.

Not that I particularly want to use a text editor and work from everywhere, but now I can thanks to @chenliangchen's engineering and @r3vnn's LXC sorcery on SailfishOS. I like the Pinephone too, it couldn't even install Libreoffice this time, and I wouldn't go far with no hwkb.
April 2, 2025 at 8:58 AM
Hardware keyboard ≠ brick. @thefxtec Pro¹ (5.99") runs multiple OSes and has a smaller footprint than the Xperia 10 (6.5") or even Pinephone (5.85"), despite better specs and slider. The extra thickness is well controlled and it fits in my pockets more easily than the others.
