Economist. History nut. Politophile.

I don't suffer fools or criminals, so if you are either, go away.

Fight on my men, I am hurt, but I am not slain; I'll lay me down and bleed a-while, And then I'll rise and fight again.

Someone needs to call him out for being the obvious Pig that he is. Why do reporters let Trump talk to them this way? Because it isn't worth the humiliation. Maybe someday someone will tell him like it is in the Press pool.

What I fear most from the breakup of the MAGA is the idea that we could go from fighting one fire to fighting a bunch of smaller fires that, while not as dramatic, have the same overall impact on our society and its general direction. We must remain vigilant always, as new bad actors replace old.

Trump 2.0 is what happens when he is allowed to be himself, and also when the guardrails and adults have been totally removed from the room. You keep being you, Donny. I couldn't have figured out a way to implode your approval ratings nearly as much as you.

When it comes to Trump/Epstein and that whole rich/elite douchebag predatory cohort, I am reminded of what Deep Throat said in ATPM:

"Forget the myths the media's created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand."

Honestly surprised the whole Trump endorsing release of Epstein files isn't trending yet. Trying to understand what his play is here, and frankly, I am looking for further analysis on it from the community. But instead, we can all drool over the Zelda movie.

That is the important stuff.

In our history, we often look for the Knight in shining armor narrative, or for a hero to show up and stop the tide going against us. But this belies our history. The reason we have a Republic and a free society is always because of the anonymous millions who decided to take a stand.

If SCOTUS strikes down Trump's illegal tariffs, it should not be paid back out of the U.S treasury or the taxpayer. That would be us double-paying for his mistakes. Instead, since he didn't seek congressional approval, he can pay it out of the billions his family has already made in the WH grifting.

I almost forgot about this program. Now I know why we have so many newer, more garbage-like cars on the road. This, on top of the automotive industry's monopolization and short-termism, has destroyed vehicle quality.

If we learn anything from this era, it should be to strengthen our institutions and stop relying on corporate America and bad actors to solve our problems. We have seen nothing but our problems multiply exponentially since the 1970s.

By investigating the democrats for ties to Epstein, Trump is bringing out the old hits of accusing the other side of the blatantly obvious things he has done. But the Jedi mind trick won't work this time because he has let it go too long, like a can of tuna out in the hot sun

Forget AI. If you want to make money, you'd better save it up to bet on water. Because 100 % it will be the new oil. Beware, my Texas brethren, they are already trying to suck it out from under you.

Note to Megyn Kelly, the ever-present MAGA cheerleader: Lucid adults know the difference between a 5 and 15-year-old, but we lucid adults also know the fact is the law doesn't see a difference when partaking in sexual acts with persons under the age of 18.

This shit will age like cheese.

In the long run, all the culture war b.s. will just be part of a long list of check boxes that need to be marked off to shed the old order of history. We went through it in the 1890s-20s. We went through it in the 1830s-50s, and we went through it in the 1740s-70s. This will be no different.

As a person who has dealt with the fallout from mental illness since his childhood, it really pissed me off to see John Fetterman on TV try to use it as an excuse for his abhorrent behavior. Fetterman not only went full right-wing, but he is also known to have been a piece of shit to staff members.

For those frustrated with Schumer for caving, it's important to note that his decision, along with the eight other troglodytes, is about addressing a political issue for Donald Trump—something they had no interest in resolving.

But hey, don't let people's lives get in the way of your opportunism.

It is too bad that out of the 40 million users on Bluesky that we can't get at least half those people together to make for a noisy voting bloc. We could literally change elections and hold politicians to account if we did learn how to organize the tens of millions of us on this platform.
