For my #wip #boardgame #Mecha90000, I managed to finish 2 out of the 5 planned #mecha designs this year. Despite some IRL issues, I should be able to finish the last three next year.

I didn't just swap the blue visor head to the old head design (leftmost ones in the pics), since I much prefer the former's mechanism for looking up and down. The current design (rightmost ones in the pics) has the same design elements as the old head with the mechanism of the new one.

When I updated Bruise's design, I wanted to change the head to somewhat resemble astronaut helmets, since I am adding rockets everywhere. While the new look is slick and isn't too bad, there's something about the red glowy eyes and crest that feels right.

So I changed the head.

Bruise Mk. II, my #mecha design for #Mecha90000, is done.
With two massive rockets for forearms, it delivers devastating punches, and its jetpacks allows it to blitz across the arena at high speeds. The jetpacks being on an articulated arm lets it dash in different directions.

The update for Bruise, my first #mecha design for #Mecha90000 is complete.

Massive boosters on its back allows Bruise to dash across the arena at blistering speeds, and it can now deliver far more devastating blows with its rocket-powered punches.

#mecha #wip: The massive rocket forearms are complete. The front pincer design is inspired by the stereotypical shark face decals on cartoon missiles.

I may revise the eye design before moving on to the jetpack, it doesn't quite sit right with me.

#wip for my #mecha redesign: the upper arms are bulked up and the forearms replaced with rockets for jet-propelled punches. Changed the head design slightly and added another segment to the waist for better torso articulation.

I don't want to just make Bruise much taller relative to Switch either, so I'll beef it up. And I have an idea on how to do it.

I do expect this to be an issue. A bipedal humanoid mech will look pretty small next to other non-humanoid, especially quadrupedal mechs that are of a comparable height. Since the context for the board game is a mecha fighting league, they should be roughly the same size.

Switch is the next #mecha for #Mecha90000, a quadrupedal #mech with twin shields at the front. It can assume a Vehicle Mode for high-speed movement on flat terrain, while the quadrupedal mode gives it a stable stance for more powerful and precise shots.

#mecha #wip update: turret design done. I wanted a railgun instead of a regular tank cannon. Next up will be setting up materials and posing.

Rhino's default bronze (top left), gold (middle left), and steel (bottom left) materials' colours never felt quite right for me. In particular gold always felt too pale, so I tried making my own versions of the materials (middle and right columns).

I finished the body of my new #mecha #wip. A few little adjustments and I can do the turret and finish this.

Redid the wheel cover to be a proper armour plate in a similar style as the front shields. Also added a swivel point so it can swing into position based on the leg configuration.

Done with the leg design for now. The #mecha can fold up its legs and deploy the wheels for high-speed locomotion, or use the legs for rough terrain.
