It's always good to survive the trials of life...even if, as in her case, they are extreme.

Violet Jessop survived the RMS Olympic after it crashed in 1911; and she survived the sinking of RMS Titanic a year later. During WWI, she was a nurse on the hospital ship HMHS Britannic when it hit a naval mine. She helped patients evacuate before abandoning ship herself.

This hand-blown glass wine decanter is shaped like blood vessels. It was designed by the French artist Etienne Meneau. It looks cool, but I reckon it would be a nightmare to clean!

In the Age of Misinformation, let's remember these headlines after the Titanic sank.
During wireless chatter, someone asked: "Are the Titanic passengers safe?” An answer came: "The ship is being towed to Halifax and everyone is ok." That 2nd transmission didnt refer to the Titanic, hence the error.

This is the final stage of tetanus when nerves fire continuously & body contorts into agonizing posture known as opisthotonus. The mastication muscles clamp down to form the hallmark lockjaw.
A vaccine didn't appear until 1924.

Today I will be mainly recovering from visiting 4 volcanoes in Italy in a week for a science doc. And eating many, many fine Neapolitan pizzas. This is either Stromboli, or my digestive system.
