My illustration references Roger Kim's linocuts of the Korean protests. ♥️ Plus a reference to @sarahjeong.bsky.social's insightful thoughts on protest tactics.

Handwritten mini journalism is short form lol but as folks gather we are seeing stories abt everything we've had to process this week 😓

First articles now hitting the front page layout of the Sunday Social News at DS4SI in Dorchester this morning.

At the time, newspapers couldn't or wouldn't tell the story of their popular citywide uprising, or of the brutal killing of protesters by the us-backed dictatorship. So students and others began publishing a one page newspaper called 투사회보 Tusahoebo, or the Fighters Bulletin.

I'll be participating in this event by the Design Studio for Social Intervention -- and running a mini collaborative DIY newspaper for the event inspired by the 📰 published by students during the 1980 Gwangju Uprising.

Ugh I suppose I should make a Gemmi Goods website and not just an IG profile, but for now,

In the spirit of not-IG, posting some of my Gemmi Goods work here too. This is for a pair of tables I'm finishing in the next few weeks.

This work builds on the Hidden Portals project we did w/ Library of Congress. It's part of our upcoming work w/ 1882 Foundation in CA’s Central Valley. 1882 Fdn is supported in this by the Mellon Foundation & our work in Hanford is made possible w/ support from the China Alley Preservation Society.

As part of our work in Hanford CA, Evelyn Hang Yin & I are hosting an online gathering this Lunar NY season for Asian American & BIPOC folks w/ tiger masks we’ll mail to you, & assemble together. The masks will open VR portals to a reconstructed Hanford in the 1800s, which we’ll experience together.

Anti-immigrant sentiment, calls for mass deportation, complicity of courts and political leaders… These are a part of this country’s history as much as present-day realities. 150y ago, a widespread movement of anti-Asian violence emerged, rooted in the xenophobic White labor movement of the time.

I love it when folks deep-dive into something I am also passionate about, and it's also lovely to see old code/utilities take on new lives or connect with new & exciting projects.

You can also still use riso@home here - let me know if you make anything cool: github.com/jywarren/ris...

Thanks to contributor Hoatzin, Bookletize.js -- a tool I made to auto-paginate your zines -- now handles "perfect binding." <3

Hi all, I'm co-teaching another cycle of the Relational Reconstructions 10-week course at School for Poetic Computation this winter, working in paper and digitally with archival and family photos. ❤️ Apps will close in a few days - scholarships available as well:

I have two pieces in this fundraiser ♥️

A copy of the first edition of Dru Chiu Tattersfield and my papercraft neighborhood zine about Providence Chinatown in 1914, and a print of Solidarity Economy, an illustration in collab w Caroline Woolard.

A year later, in residency at the Library of Congress, I’ve worked w dozens of people to craft a space of care from a family photo or archival photo they feel a personal connection with, & I’ve created an online gallery w many of the memory spaces–enclaves–which people crafted in these workshops.

Over the past year, I’ve taught many workshops on Ancestral Memory Enclaves, a project which began when CultureHub asked me if I could teach something related to my relational reconstruction practice in a 3 hour session for ReFest last October.
