Hard to imagine that it couldn’t be done by the very people who so strategically took out Iranian nuclear scientists. With cell phone!!!! They have the capability to be extremely surgical, do they not?

I will not profess to have anything of substance to offer here. I am an observer from afar. That said, a more tactical approach, something less than the utter destruction of Gaza, perhaps? As impossible as it sounds, a more measured approached, targeting those responsible?

I have to think about all the “negatives” in this when figuring out what is actually being said…layers upon layers obfuscate intent. So it’s being asserted that people only object to self determination when Jewish folks and issues and Israel are under consideration?

I'll readily admit that the parallels are not perfect. I use those two to suggest that both Us reactions to something were over the top. Instead of going after the perpetrators, we went to war in two/three different countries.

Ok...fair enough and assertion unassailed; the right to self determination. Zionism to me is radical, "conservative" in the cultural-political sense. I equate that to our current radical right here in the US. What word is used to describe this Israeli faction if it isn't Zionism/ist?

I believe it is perfectly reasonable to object. I do think there are several other options just as it turns out there were instead of invading Iraq...or Vietnam...or pick your war.

Precisely. Couldn't agree more. I don't identify with any of it. I belong to The tribe of no tribe. Our moral compass, duty to others is horribly skewed by the identity we cop to. i think that is where we should start as individuals; attachment is the source of all suffering, is a profound truth.

Too many innocents, too real...for sure. This is in a sense my thesis, exactly. We are talking about people's lives and IF we could only get out from under our slavish attachment to our religion, or ideology, we would al be in a better place to start to live with each other.

I have come away from your posts with no better understanding of the conflict or the issues, however. If you care to demonstrate WHY it is impossible to be both for Israel and against the current government's response to Oct 7th, I'm all ears.
