The picture I post every Remembrance Sunday - my grandson showing his great grandmother where her uncle's name is on the war memorial in Leamington. This is what it should be about, not performative poppies.

Rain in Venice today. Low, grey light. Everything wrapped in a misty film. Out in the lagoon you got a sense of forever. This weather in this place for all of time. Around the cemetery island of San Michele to Murano the home via San Marco. Another perfect day in this enchanted place.

A misty, grey start in Venice today. Quiet streets, lapping water in the early morning. The best time for a walk. This is such a precious place

I've been coming to Barcelona for 40 years (😬). Never been to the Serra de Collserola before. Put that right today. Very glad I did. But I wish I'd done it in the 1980s. The views would have been so different. Look carefully and you can see the new Camp Nou. Almost ready, finally.

Great news from Caerphilly. Was that Survation poll a spur to getting a higher anti-Reform turnout or was Reform overstated in the first place? Either way, it's encouraging. I don't care who wins as long as it's not the far-right.

A ban on borrowing to fund government expenditure surely means huge cuts to all public services on a scale never seen before. The NHS could not survive this. Neither could the Triple Lock.

Reservoirs are now fuller in Spain than they are in South West England. And South West England is probably in a better position that much of the rest of the country. Across England, there is no meaningful rainfall in sight.
