Empathy does not need to be a zero-sum competition. Supporting one group does not require erasing another. Especially not by social psychologists.
Last year psychologists signed a letter supporting campus protests. I too support them. But the letter also dismissed the pain of Jewish students who felt gaslit and abandoned. It didn’t just support protesters, it erased the experiences of an entire community.
