I want to run an ice cream truck, but if anybody ever tries to get ice cream from me, surprise, free cone of spaghetti.

@vebesterling.bsky.social I found a book you should definitely review on your blog.

You can really tell the difference between local pond ducks and those on vacation by how few shits they give about humans nearby. I’m pretty sure this duck just gave me a “what the fuck do you want mate?” look.

A cold, uncaring universe
Errantly labeled cruel
The table chairs grow empty
Year after year
One remains, then none
The table moves on
Refilled to dwindle more
An heirloom of the unremembered

All saints’ eve
A hallowed sundown
Before the real day
Skeletons dance
In a spooky town
Cats listen sleepily while old bones creak
Round the campfire

The sun hides beneath the horizon
Planning its triumphant return
Two owls cry out
In the middling dark
A last hoot before the day

Just beyond the rocky falls
Where the water returns to creek
The minnows swim
In a shallow sunlit pool

High above a sinking creek
Looking over echoing bluffs
From trails not so traveled
By people down below
I’d put pen to paper
Journal nature that I see
Owls, skunks, lizard, turtle
And a random cat
But no time,
I have a toddler on my back

Lake, a ghostly white
Ethereal smoke rises
Heralding the return of the sun god
Chariot peaking over the far trees

Sun’s First Light
Kisses water on cool autumn morns
Fickle wisps of fog
Dance aimlessly in the mist
Across the reflection of the world

The egret arrives
And sits upon the top of the heron tree
Vibrant white atop the green
Surveying the watery domain
On its journey from place to place
A fine hotel for avian migrants

Two herons
Stand by the lake
Wings raised to bolster their plumage
I don’t think they are friends

Sunflowers
Some are big
Some are tall
Some are little
But all with flowers bright
The bees, the birds, the squirrels delight

One of the last #sunflower shots of the season as the #sunflowers are now drying up. The bonus extra heat certainly hasn’t helped.

#sunflowers enjoying the ground. The plants this year really like to put off more blooms than the branches could handle. But it just kept going.

I stare at pictures
Of waterways still and distant
In lands I’ve never been
Imagining little moments of zen.

I’m sure this has a proper name, but I like to think of them as rusty #sunflowers. #sunflower

I was unable to capture one of the tiny tornados dancing merrily amongst the mist ambling low across the water’s surface. #mist #lake #fog bonus #heron

An older #sunflower bloom that has lost its oomph, but it does have a bee on it. #sunflowers

I try to get a variety of #sunflowers to grow, but these are the only ones to add a splash of color. They were a volunteer from last year no less. #sunflower
