Largest of all #Agaves, Agave atrovirens. Each leaf can grow just shy of 15ft long and weigh ~100lbs. The flower stalk, its peduncle, towers over 40ft tall.
This one’s #justababy.
Endemic to Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz, Mexico. It’s one of the pulque agaves used in mezcal production.

Toxicoscordion fremontii, or Fremont’s death camas, is a common wildflower endemic to the Pacific Coast. Its range reaches as far north as Coos Bay, OR to as far south as Baja California. Every bit is poisonous.

Erysimum franciscanum, or the San Francisco Wallflower, seen on the San Bruno Summit Loop. Endemic to the Pacific North Coast of California, primarily seen in the Bay Area. It’s limited distribution places it as a 4.2 on the California Rare Plant Rank; moderate concern.
