They must know how toxic he is, how clearly stupid & / or unwell he is, & how that reflects on them.

I'm sure this has been said before - I think a large part of the far right / Trump et al's attraction is the way they get away with anything from bigotry, SA, blatant corruption, rank stupidity, to laziness, etc etc etc.
