As for the Disney sequels. Hmm. I thought Force Awakens felt more like Star Wars than anything in the prequels. I appreciated that Last Jedi was trying something different, but it didn’t work for me, and Rise of Skywalker was too much of a desperate course correction. But hey - no Jar Jar.

Lucas wouldn’t have made Rogue One. He wouldn’t have made Andor. Or The Mandalorian. If Book of Boba Fett is the price we had to pay for getting Andor, it’s worth it. And for what it’s worth I thought Skeleton Crew was a lot of fun.

And look. I know Hayden Christensen is a lovely human being who loves the fanbase, and they love him, but FUCK ME he was stilted and wooden as Anakin. Plus the FUCKING “NOOOOO!!!” as Vader made Lucas ruin one of the best scenes in ROTJ retrospectively. People criticising Disney? Fair enough, BUT

Even the good scenes are actually not as good as we remember. The Duel of the Fates lightsaber battle was incredible - but only when re-edited to remove the cutaways to the other characters. Then there was the casual racism, the ponderous exposition, Jar Jar BLOODY Binks, shitty Palpatine makeup…

It’s actively upsetting me - completely relentless. Both the content (and I have a strong stomach) but also the fact that there’s clearly an audience for it.
