Almost 2 years ago I started cardio workouts pretty much daily. I’ve been lifting regularly for about 1 year. I entered my 40s this year feeling physically stronger than I ever have. If I could fix my personality I would be unstoppable.

28 Years Later - Hints of the world that has moved on in the wake of the pandemic peak through what is otherwise a contained coming of age film. Some of the audio and editing choices felt abrasive but interesting. The ending felt like a real tonal shift after some poignant moments in the back third.

Presence (2024) - I kind of loved this movie. A simple story of a family in turmoil, as viewed by the presence in the house they moved into, manages to feel deeply personal and emotionally affecting. The pacing and performances worked well, and served to deliver an effective gut punch of a finale.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle - I saw this one in IMAX, and tracking the subtitles on a screen that large was a pain. While this movie looks great, and some of our favorite characters get to do their stuff, the pacing is straight up bad. Fun for fans of the show, but impenetrable for anyone else.

I hate to be negative but this movie feels unfinished. I feel like there was a solid 30 minutes that was stretched out to feature length without the acting, editing, directing chops to make it work. A solid skeleton without the developed muscles to animate it.

Remember a president can't use pretty clearly outlined authority to forgive student loans (help people), but he can absolutely institute mass firings for no reason (fuck people over), when it is super unclear as to how he is legally able to do that.
