Also with TB. Cities had to make it illegal to spit because people utterly refused to stop spitting everywhere (including indoors). TB was the leading cause of death and there was no cure, but refusing to prevent it was a virtue to some weirdos.

I keep seeing long threads where people do complex math to justify unmasking, calculating their own risk of illness 🧮

I've seen some anecdotal evidence for the damage theory, and yet personally I found that having it once and coming through changed my reasons for precaution. Before infection I was at 70% fear and 30% principles/ethics. It's more like 20/80 now. For those without principles to start with, well... 🤷‍♂️
