Day 5. “Illinois(e)” by Sufjan Stevens. I’ve never been fully on the sufjan bandwagon but I feel like this was pretty advanced stuff for 2005, a lot of near experimentation even if it doesn’t all land for me. I respect it and enjoy a good chunk of it!

Day 4. “Metallica” by Metallica. Booooooring. Worst 50 year old guy you know music. Maybe (MAYBE) this felt cutting edge at the time, but it’s aged horribly. It has its moments of course but a majority of this is standard and boring.

Day 3. “In Rainbows” by Radiohead. I get it now. Can’t believe I’ve never sat down with this album before but all the dudes who are so annoying about Radiohead I understand !!!

Day 2. “Time Out” by The Dave Brubeck Quartet. I think I’m still learning to appreciate instrumental jazz, and really most instrumental music. I’ll say this was enjoyable and I was surprised by how much of this I had heard sampled before.

Day 1. My first album was “The Genius of Ray Charles” by Ray Charles. What a first pull! I was amazed how timeless this was. It was short, succinct, and a good sampling of Ray’s talent. I saved a few tracks from this one to revisit.
