I don't think we'll even have a human on mars this century though, let alone a semi permanent colony. There are fundamental issues that need to be solved.

Harvard has a free computer programming introduction course. Watching the lectures will give you a good idea of the fundamentals, so other tutorials you find will make more sense.

Plus, you can truthfully say you studied at harvard :P
