I have been saying this for years, often to the effect of upsetting people, that recycling is a great way of exporting moral guilt that accompanies modern consumerism. Most waste management is offshoring trash to the third world. Businesses need to take responsibility-Consumers need to be conscious!

Zambian communities are taking legal action against mining company First Quantum Minerals, claiming they were forced to resettle in areas where they face hardship and poverty.
