I've spent my career being called an alarmist or naive because I believe that traffic violence (like gun violence and the violent expulsion of immigrants) is not only not inevitable, but creates prime conditions for *all of this.* They conditioned us to accept content atrocities, and we got them.

I can’t remember the source, so I’m gonna sound super convincing here, but I either read or heard from a podcast an argument that it was actually the removal of lead from gasoline that lowered crime rates.

When we had our second kid, my wife skipped the baby shower and instead had a party where everyone helped do tasks around the house - some baby-related and some not. I now firmly believe everyone should have one of these parties once a year to do all the shit we never have time for.

67 seems to have replaced 69 with the youngers. I teach high school band and anytime I have to say “start at measure 69,” the older kids chuckle - but my freshmen don’t. It’s all about 67, 21, 41… I predict soon all numbers will be taken over by memes and brain rot.
