What should we add to this list? Inspired of @jlalibs.com essay that’s included in the @vinsyn.bsky.social MAC AND ME release.
The Bastard Sons of E.T.
Movies “inspired by” Steven Spielberg’s E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial or are otherwise capitalizing on its success.

Pardon me but why in the FUCK is CATCH ME IF YOU CAN the most popular Spielberg movie on @letterboxd.social?

I can not get over how well Noah Hawley and his team have been able to capture the look and feel of the ALIEN universe (especially in scenes set on the Maginot).

You know what I love? I love paying $10 for popcorn and then being asked to butter it myself.

Regal Cinemas, all about the customer experience right?

I just got my MAC & ME 4K in from the fine folks at @vinsyn.bsky.social and while I’m incredibly excited for it, I can’t help but wish it included a commentary by Paul Rudd and Conan O’Brien

I’m seeing a lot of bad takes about EDDINGTON from folks who clearly don’t understand the concept of satire.

The three of us decided to pop on to record a “quick” review of SUPERMAN — shooting for 30-60 min (if you listen to the regular show, you know that’s short for us). Ended up talking for an hour and a half (!) and I still somehow forgot to mention the social media rage monkeys.
Surprise! We all had a chance to check out the new SUPERMAN movie this weekend, and now we’re sharing our thoughts!

Bonus episode is out now everywhere!

I was 13 years old in the summer of 1995 so needless to say Dr. Chase Meridian’s mere existence shaped me in, uh, profound ways.
I'm not sure any woman has ever looked hotter than Nicole Kidman does in BATMAN FOREVER.

And for the record — because I’m bad at social media and forgot to share this a couple of days ago — here’s my review of SUPERMAN. Spoiler: I unabashedly loved everything about it, including its hokeyness. (I think hokeyness is important to the Superman character tbh)

A ★★★★★ review of Superman (2025)
This is it, y’all. This is what Superman should be. This is what comic book movies should be: big, bold, colorful, and filled with hope. Filled with kindness, filled with humor, and above all, filled ...

I simply do not understand the hype behind Gunther -or- Jey Uso.

Gunther is a good technical wrestler but he’s boring as hell and Uso is one note — in the ring and on the mic. Yeah, he’s got a fun entrance but what else?

Is there something other people see in them that I’m missing?

I thought our David Lynch series on Cinema Shock was my favorite thing we’ve ever done, but this Jim Henson series (which is almost over! 😢) might take the cake now. Incredibly proud of the work we’ve done on this series and I’m gonna miss talking about Henson when we’re done.
This week, we’re continuing to tell the story of the life and career of Jim Henson, with a deep dive into the making of his beloved fantasy film LABYRINTH starring Jennifer Connelly and the great David Bowie.

I started a TikTok account for @cinemashock.bsky.social a couple of weeks ago and it’s really made it clear to me how drastically different content is treated there vs Instagram/Meta. This was never a secret, but it’s sort of insane how Meta suppresses content in the hopes of monetizing it.

Whoever’s been programming the Criterion Channel live feed late at night, keep it up. Last night I turned it on when I went to bed and Cronenberg’s RABID was on. Tonight it’s Hideo Nakata’s DARK WATER. Good stuff. @criterion.bsky.social
