In comparison, most local/state police academies are 24+ weeks. What could possibly go wrong?

What ICE is doing in Chicago (and elsewhere) is indefensible. An absolutely horrific abuse of power that cannot be tolerated if we want to retain our republic.
There was a time, not long ago, when the extrajudicial killing of foreign nationals, in international waters posing no immediate threat to any person or property, would have been an unthinkable violation, rightfully condemned by GOP 1.0 politicians (and everyone else).

This is yet another illustration of the destructive insanity of tariffs. Not only are they an incredibly regressive TAX on all Americans, but they also destroy the very manufacturing base they were supposed to “protect”.

Every authoritarian throughout history has been “tough on crime.” It’s so much easier to exert unlawful power when you’re doing it in the name of restoring “peace.” Conveniently, the definitions of crime and peace are determined by the authoritarian.

We officially accepted a $400 million Boeing 747 bribe from Qatar today, which will cost US taxpayers about $1 Billion to overhaul as AF1 (while not entering service any sooner than the new Boeing 747s we are currently outfitting), which will then become the property of Donald Trump on Jan 20, 2029.

This is a friendly economic reminder that while a 145% import tax completely destroys supply chains, replacing it with a 30% tax simply guarantees that what you can get once again will now be more expensive. This would be called inflation.

One of the historically significant realizations of the last few months has been that the Constitution and its derived power depends upon honorable people obeying norms. It was not designed to save us from the destructive proclivities of dishonorable people trampling over any norm to seize power.
