The discourse really is fascinating. Some incredibly valid, earnest talks. Others? 😅

There *is* a resort in the film, but it’s just a location haha. There is no propaganda there, I can confidently say that. If it was the Aulani? I’d definitely have a problem haha

Especially when the OG was by fiercely, pro PI and anti-tourism/colonization. Legit groundbreaking shit back then haha. Definitely some of my problems with the LA do come from them taking their foot a little off the gas in regards to that.

100% feel you and if that puts you off to the movie, I get it. Just think the filmmakers/cast/crew handled the particular scene with care that’s losing some context on the internet, that’s all.

That’s totally fine! I respect it. Just know that “an ending where the sisters aren’t together” isn’t entirely what happened either! I’d love to talk about it more with you if you ever end up watching it!

I’d hate for someone to miss out on a thing they loved because something was taken out of context by someone on the internet. But, like, it’s totally fine if you don’t care about the LA at all lol

I get it, truly. I just saw that you loved the OG and noticed that there was a part in your post that I think is unfairly categorized (from one of your sources). There’s more context required for that scene IMO that works, albeit the oversight in historical relevance. That’s all!

That’s fair - and the history involving it is 100% an oversight on their part. But “abandoning her” is a complete mischaracterization of what happens in the movie.

OG is my favorite movie. Straight up. I’m not going to pretend that there weren’t decisions in the LA that made me scratch my head - but it’s been a while since I’ve seen so much hyperbolic, taken-out-context outrage over a movie on the internet (mostly from people who haven’t even seen the movie).
May 28, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Did you actually see the movie? “Abandoning” is 100% not what happened - spoiler alert haha. Beware of what the internet is feeding you.

This is all in prep for the theatrical re-release of Revenge of the Sith on 4/25. Next week we’ll be watching Attack of the Clones (4/17 at 7 PM pt) and the week after that we’ll be watching RotS either together in theaters or online.

I love that you included that Cassavell question from the press conference: "What do you envision accomplishing here?"
