Campus is great but also look at the downtown architecture and the immigrant workers memorial (not sure what it is called), and the veteran's memorial. Love the Victorian and craftsman houses. Love the wilderness park. Does the state park still have buffaloes?

Well, NO, the American people did NOT vote for what ICE did in Kansas, when it lured a profoundly undangerous woman from Pittsburg KS to Kansas City on the pretense of a legal status hearing, only to seize her and send her through a Kansas County jail to a deportation center in Texas. And in the process to destroy the living integrity of a family of a husband and four children--all of whom were and are American citizens. NO, Mr. Tech Almighty, the American people did NOT vote for that. That was something that ICE under Kristia Noem and Donald Trump invented to make it seem as though a campaign promise was being kept. Whether through High Tech or not, what was done to a family in Kansas was evil, pure and simple. The Pope has said nearly as much, and Mr. Douthat, the Catholic intellectual, and his interlocutor here can't quite say that. To me, that's the message here. All of this sounds so utterly cold-hearted and soul-empty, and this man tells Mr. Douthat that it's all based on the idea that the West is Good and who else--the rest of the world--is evil? What is being said here? Who really believes what in this discussion? I didn't get a clear sense of that. And God did not give me a brain to outsource it to Palantir or anybody else. That's the most I can make of this. It doesn't sound good to me, anyway.

My old custom built house held up well, but it recently required $thousands for plumbing, roof replacement (again), and other repairs/replacements. Thank God, I didn't have a fifty-year mortgage.
I looked at new homes and wondered if they would still be standing in fifty years.
