In a similar, but different way, I have traveled to NYC twice for “once in a lifetime” concerts. Rufus doing Judy at Carnegie Hall and Björk Biophilia tour. Both expensive. Both worth it.

I’ve been to all, and their Auto Shows.
Detroit: I love it! Hotels are stupid expensive. I can drive it.
DC: I love the city, but yeah, I don’t know that I wanna go there right now. There would be flight & hotel cost.
Chicago: cheaper flight & hotel. A little later, so maybe better weather

All of the shows are mid Jan to mid Feb. they’re kinda in succession with Detroit first Jan 17-30 and Chicago last from Feb 7-16.
None of them ideal times for great weather.

This reminded me of my French roommate who thought because cafe means both “a cafe” and “coffee” in French, that “coffee” must be the same in English. It was always lovely when she’d leave for work and announce she was “off to the coffee!!”
