Happy to feel this way about it after not really enjoying XC3 much at all when I played it a while back. Feels like each entry in the series has a lot of differences. Not just in gameplay, but also in look and feel.

Lots of people assumed it was a DLC or add-on for the original Yooka-Laylee, but it’s not. It’s a legitimate Donkey Kong Country type of platformer with a really great, top-down Zelda-like overworld.
It’s such a great game.

✅ Massive step up in polish & quality
✅ Wonderful new art direction
✅ Character portraits & voice acting
✅ Bazaar is genuinely fun
✅ Great cast
❌ Lacking in some upgradable progression & customization
❌ Pacing slows a bit too much near the endgame

Feels like the evolution this series has needed for a long time in terms of polish, art direction, and general quality!

I have no idea wtf is going on in this one lol. I won a lot of the time, but didn’t really understand how I was implementing much of a strategy. I didn’t enjoy it much, but it *feels* like there’s game in there that I’m just not clicking with.

The most charming entry of UFO 50 that I’ve played thus far. It’s a well-made twin stick shooter with a lot of personality. I only have one major qualm, and that’s the shortness of the game. It ends waaay too soon.

A solid Metroidvania that controls well and has interesting traversal puzzles to explore. There really isn’t anything that makes this standout, though. And the lack of a map outside of save points is bothersome. Still, it’s a substantial package.

Extremely cool game design and aesthetic. The combat is surprisingly great as well. My main issue with Valbrace is how easy it is to get lost since everything looks the same and dying on a floor can feel *brutal* because of this. It gets a bit repetitive due to its length too.

Solid platform fighter. It’s a little on the easy side for single-player. And it’s not super deep either. But every match is fun and has a pretty high skill ceiling. I like obtaining rings to win as it discourages passive play. And the characters are all interesting to play.

Pong, but with fighting game characters. It’s so peak. Maybe the best feeling game I’ve played yet, control-wise. Each character’s build has so much potential for combos and deceptive tricks. Very easily one of UFO 50’s top games.

Fantastically silly concept with some smart level design and puzzles. It’s a good length as well. I think maybe the save system was a bit too forgiving, but that’s maybe not even a real issue since it encouraged me to experiment with the mechanics more freely. This is a good one.

An unremarkable puzzle strategy game. It relies somewhat heavily on rng and didn’t hold much entertainment value for me. Nothing abhorrently wrong with it. It’s just a bit boring and bland all-around.

Would be S-Tier if not for the storm hazard making things so luck dependent. The driving controls feel pretty good once you learn them. The punishing difficulty could put some people off, but I found it fun to master. It’s really only the luck factor that hurts it at times.
