“I want to know who you work with?” Morning humor but the Louvre heist is no laughing matter and I’m not optimistic given the nature of jewels vs paintings. @cnn.com @audiecornish.bsky.social

Somebody can have major disagreements about ICE’s actions and not be violent. The White House blurs that line and speaks of a killer aligned with a violent left movement but the evidence doesn’t show that yet. It shows someone deeply involved with no one in particular. @cnn.com

“Love it or hate it. Love them or hate them. We were a society where engagement wasn’t at the risk of violence. We have to get that American treasure back because it’s lost.” @cnn.com

The freedom to engage in the arena is what makes a free society. @cnn.com

They have to catch him soon. Violence begets violence. The FBI needs to focus rather than tweet. More from @cnn.com

“These systems are supposed to be built so that there is continuity of operations, systems of redundancies, so there isn’t one single point of failure like an emergency manager being sick. It’s jaw dropping.” I joined @cnn.com on the Texas flood response oversight hearing.

“We need to commit to a preparedness system. We have to view these agencies — NOAA, NWS — as intelligence agencies. You wouldn’t go to war without your Defense Intelligence or CIA telling you what’s going on on the ground.” @cnn.com @amanpourcopbs.bsky.social

“‘The devil never sleeps’, but it is the second part of the quote that matters most: ‘but he only wins if we don’t do better next time.’ People of all faiths and no faith have to commit to that because we will see these disasters again and again and again.” @cnn.com

“This is what government is for. It is to help people for the damage and the devastation and I hope Congress and the President reconsider these dramatic and deadly cuts. If there is anything that good comes out of this is that we reassess our commitment to being ready.” @cnn.com

“When you drill down on it, in terms of budget, people and the quality of the people, DHS has not focused on threats” related to cybersecurity or terrorism. @cnn.com @audiecornish.bsky.social on how the singular focus on ICE raids impacts our homeland readiness after we bombed Iran.
June 23, 2025 at 1:38 PM
The homeland threat is higher, though Iran will more likely focus its efforts on American interests abroad. Still, the Department of Homeland Security has focused almost exclusively on ICE deportation efforts and has let our cybersecurity and counterterrorism efforts eviscerate. @cnn.com
