Teaching is such a thankless job, our educators are just trying to prepare children for the world that awaits them when they are done with their education. Many teachers are still paying off their student loans, like my friend Mary. It’s time we pay them a livable wage for their tireless work.
Teachers work hard every day to try to make this world a better place. Every day we try to fortify - to save - our democracy. And every day it gets a little worse for us. We are often disrespected by students, by parents, by administration, and by our government.
