Uvalde somehow didn't convince the NY Times that "something is seriously wrong in this nation," but Charlie Kirk's murder is a bridge too far.

Shooting school children they've completely normalized, but Kirk's death violated, "basic, common-sense, need-not-be-debated American" values.

Grateful that Rep Doggett is stepping down. The redrawn CD35 is an automatic GOP pickup, and a primary for CD37 would by pyrrhic and wasteful.

Now he can finally commit the +$6 million in cash he has on hand to driving historic statewide Dem turnout in Texas.

Doggett won’t seek reelection to Congress if new district is upheld by courts, paving way for Casar
Doggett has represented his hometown of Austin for over 50 years, in both the Legislature and Congress, surviving numerous Republican redistricting efforts to target his seat.

Earlier today, the Texas House adopted a new congressional map that is expected to shift 5 seats to the GOP.

The map goes to the state Senate.

These are the Congressional Democrats who will automatically lose their seats under the new Texas Republican gerrymandered maps.

This is the Texas Dem’s Hail Mary moment.

Texas’ safe-seat Congressional Democrats are sitting on over $16M.

They could fund the logistics of a quorum break without risking a single election.

The resources are there.

Is the courage?

Some Texas Democrats don’t have to worry about re-election. Extreme gerrymandering means their districts are “safe” in general elections.

They’re holding over $15 million in campaign cash — money that could stop Greg Abbott's gerrymandering attempt.

There are only three political positions in America today

1) I like the fascism

2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc)

3) I oppose the fascism

The rest is details
