This is why reminders about lawful vs. unlawful orders are important. Service members must know their responsibilities, especially when courts are already identifying actions outside legal authority.

From blocked National Guard deployments across state lines to limits on using active-duty forces for policing, the judiciary reaffirmed a core principle: military activity on U.S. soil is tightly bound by law. #ruleoflaw @captmarkkelly.bsky.social @slotkin.senate.gov

At a time people were missing there was a critical delay in approving the request for search and rescue teams. The FEMA “leader” was no where to be found.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s acting administrator, David Richardson, is often inaccessible, several current and former officials say, raising concerns within the agency.

I don’t know the last time one Senator of a political party called out another Senator from the same party live in a hearing. Thank you to Senator Cassidy for standing up for the truth. Senator Mullins should stop believing what RFK says.

Another NOAA tool canceled by the Trump Administration this one to help predict severe rainfall. Call your Senators and tell them to stop these cuts.

NOAA was developing a tool to help communities prepare for future rainfall. Trump officials stopped it.
The tool would have projected how climate change could affect rainfall frequency and intensity in communities across the nation.

Interesting to hear Scott Jennings so upset that some of those detained in the CA farm raid yesterday are kids as young as 14. Did he speak out when DeSantis endorsed a bill this session to allow 14 year olds to backfill the gap of immigrants in Florida?

Disaster funding cuts buried in the “Big Beautiful Bill” are a direct hit to safety and science.

🔻 1,200 FEMA jobs eliminated
🔻 1,800 NOAA jobs slashed
🌀 Local weather offices closing
🧯 Rescue teams grounded

All while extreme weather escalates.

We need preparedness, not politics. #FEMA #NOAA

@wxmvpete.bsky.social Peter thank you for the clarification. I previously worked at NOAA HQ. Seeing people question the work of the NWS in these situations is frustrating. I know everyone wants to save lives and will do everything possible.

@juliettekayyem.bsky.social it is clear that Sec Noem is not informed of the technology upgrades at NWS. Issues with forecast is due to cuts to funding models and offices used for weather prediction. Texas EM pushed out a notice to partners on Thursday noon that up to 12” could happen over night.

@juliettekayyem.bsky.social thank you for the explanation of the time between the NWS forecast and warnings from the local EM to the community. As a former Deputy CoS/Comms Director of NOAA (under Trump 1) seeing the cuts to NWS since Jan we knew something would happen.
