Sometimes you just find a kindred spirit out of the blue, or in this case at a bagel shop. I don’t think they could create a KA or knitters anonymous organization even thought it looks like an addiction.

I know it’s Socktober, but I’m so enamored with this wrap that it’s all I work on! It’s Purl Soho’s Quaking Aspen Wrap using their Full Bloom Minis Packet (which I won during the TKGA conference last April). 7 colors in and 13 more to go! 😁 🧶

This past Saturday I found a new LYS is Tavares, FL - Crochet Aweigh. The owner, Emily, was a delight! For a small and new shop, she has so many beautiful yarns! I purchased just a few items. 🤭 I see socks and a cowl, but I’m not sure what to do with the Seaspun yet.

In between these two skeins is a small, circular skein of Berroco Seaspun in a coral pink color. Below this skein is the business card of the LYS where these were purchased - Crochet Aweigh. Two skeins of Malabrigo worsted yarn in burgundy color way. Sitting on top of the skeins is a set of stitch markers made by Southern Skeins based in Tallahassee. From left to right the stitch markers are: a pink acorn with a brown top, an owl in green, a grey rhino, a blue and purple snake, and yellow baby bird.

For #showmeyourknits #socktober, I’ve got on my needles a pair of scrappy, shorty socks and Summer Lee’s Murmuration Socks using the hand-dyed yarn I bought last April from The Local Craftery in the color Sagey.
An in progress hand-knit short sock. The cuff, heel, and half of the foot are completed. The circular needles have sheep needle stoppers on them. There are two balls of leftover self-striping yarn above the sock. The yarn is variegated paler blues, olive green, and small bits of tan, purple, and white. The beginning of a sock cuff ribbing on double-pointed needles. Above the sock cuff sits a ball of yarn that is sage green in color with flecks of brown. A fourth needle is stuck through the top of the ball of yarn. Below the sock cuff sits a brown ball band with the name of the hand dyer of the yarn -The Local Craftery.

It’s about joy this week for #showmeyourknits. I get great joy from knitting and more joy when I can knit gifts for others.

I deliberately waited longer to post for this week’s #showmeyourknits WIP because I wanted to see how far I could get on my Flax sweater. I’m making progress.

Since #showmeyourknits wants to see sweaters, I thought I’d show the progress I’ve made on my Flax sweater. I’ve just barely started the left sleeve because I couldn’t wait until the body was completely finished. 😂

#showmeyourknits is baby items. I haven’t made any new baby things recently, but here is a variety pack, many of which I’ve posted before.

The bib has the image of a cow knit into it. A hand knit baby beanie against a green background. The beanie has a leaf and flower colorwork motif all around it. The hat is a light brown yarn with two colors of green for the leaves and purple and yellow for the flowers. A hand knit baby layette set knit in a spring green yarn. The set consists of a cardigan, booties, and beanie hat all laying on top of the matching blanket.

It’s stripes for #showmeyourknits! I like my stripes on my socks and fingerless mitts. Pup likes the socks better! 🐶
Six pairs of hand knit socks with stripes. Four use self striping yarns in oranges, browns, purples, pinks, and blues. Two pairs of the socks are Fair Isle patterned in red, green, and gold and another in blue, red and gold. Laying behind all of the socks is a beige colored Cairn terrier. Two pairs of knitted fingerless mitts in Fair Isle colorwork. The pair on the left is mostly maroon with motif stripes in gold, green, cream, bronze, and brown. The pair on the right is mostly green with motif stripes in the same colors as the first pair. The second pair is unfinished with the rightmost mitt still on double pointed needles with small skeins of gold, maroon, green, and cream yarns attached.

Happy Birthday #showmeyourknits! For my knitter’s choice, I’m showing my current project - the cowl I’m making for my mom’s birthday in a raspberry merino fingering yarn. 🧶
About 3 inches of what will be a hand-knit cowl with 2 types of cables in a raspberry colored yarn. One type of cable is smaller and twisting to the left while the other cable is a larger antler motif. There cowl is on a pair of circular needles and the cake of yarn sits above the cowl in progress.

It’s finally finished!! My Plummet top is ready for blocking then wearing! It fits wonderfully! I am thrilled! And it’s just in time for this week’s #showmeyourknits 🧶

Here are the his and her Frankensocks I began at the airport when we left for our trip last month. Vanilla short socks made with the leftovers of several self-striping yarns. 🧶

My main #WIP for #showmeyourknits this week is my Plummet top. It’s time for finishing-seaming, neckband, and armbands. I hope to be wearing it soon.
The back and front of a hand knit sleeveless top that needs to be sewn together then finished with a ribbed neck and arm bands. The top is cream colored with a 6-inch band of cream and mauve cabled colorwork at the bottom of each piece.

I finished my Long Beach cowl (modified Sockhead cowl) night before last on the plane on the tarmac waiting to take off. Yay! No knitting after that - too tired even for mindless sock knitting. 😂 🧶

Today I went to Purly Shell Fiber Arts - the LYS in the Port of Ilwaco, WA. It was a great shop with a super staff! I was thrilled to find 16” circulars in sizes 0-2.5 as well as some beautiful Australian yarns, which I haven’t seen in my East Coast travels, so I’m excited to work with them.

I’ve finally gotten out to knit in public - airport knitting. With the delays so far and having to be rebooked on a connecting flight tomorrow, the beginning of these shortie socks may become an entire pair before we get to our final destination! 🤣

Blankets for #showmeyourknits were made for my granddaughters, usually as part of layette sets. 🧶

Here are my top 2 WIPs: 1) always a sock and 2) my Plummet top - I’m ready to shape the shoulders of the front. Once the front is complete, I only have to seam it and do the neck and arm bands. I just might have it finished for our June trip! 🧶 #showmeyourknits

The pattern is Plummet by Martin Storey found in the Rowan spring magazine (#75).
