Happy Hollow Weenies! Wishing you all lots of treats because we’ve had an excessive amount of tricks this year.
This is what our neighbor has inflicted upon us this year. A screen makes it appear that Pennywise (the evil clown from It) is looking out from a half-lowered garage door. “I see you” is written just above and to the left of him. I find it both hilarious and mildly terrifying.

Half a dozen pecan shortbread cookies cut in the shape of pumpkins and decorated very, very poorly with orange icing and chocolate faces. Truly, truly terrible decorating, and yet they make me happy.

On Tuesday, we said goodbye to Bella the bestest* dog ever. I am heartbroken. She was more than 15 years old, and it was time, but it’s still too soon.

*I know you all think your dogs are the bestest, and you’re right, they are. Rules of superlatives are special for dogs. Hug your pups for me.

Just finished reading Starter Villain by John Scalzi, and I really enjoyed it, but a few things seem a little too on point for our current situation. Talking about villains here:

This is true about so many things in life. Once you stop trying to find the “one perfect way” that pleases everyone, you free up a lot of time and energy for things that might actually work for you.
Except from the article: There is no perfect way to do any of this: You will get shit from some people if you boycott. You will get shit from some people if you don’t boycott. You will get shit from some people if you boycott one company or billionaire and not another. You will get shit from some people if you talk publicly about this stuff. Recent very cool thing: I saw a tarantula in the wild!
A tarantula on the sidewalk in Big Bend National Park. A tarantula wisely moving off the sidewalk and into the grass to get away from the humans gawking at her and telling her how cool and pretty she is.
