I performed the #YellowRiver #Piano Concerto at the 2026 #Beijing New Year’s Concert. The performance took place at the Great Hall of the People, alongside conductor Yang Yang and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
When the melody of “东方红” (The East Is Red) emerges, It was a moment filled with Energy!

What concerns me is the future of #pianism when many pianists—especially from China, now a major force in #classicalmusic —show little interest in the culture and doctrine of western music. Technique alone is not enough. Without context and respect, interpretation is empty. We must learn with heart.

Learning #Tchaikovsky’s #Piano #Concerto recently. Yes, it is overplayed—yet not overrated. This music reminds me that pianists are like horses: some are trained, others wild. Young pianists are often foolish; they play too fast. Slow down, listen, and enjoy the music. That is all.

The third violin sonata by Brahms contains all the elements of a Romantic sonata: a calming, lyrical first movement; a beautiful second movement filled with love and consolation; a spirited third movement; and a majestic, glorious finale. Despite all this, the structure remains clear and solid. Nice

Reflections on Rachmaninov:
This world has been nothing but cruel to me;
why should I be any different?

Because only when there is no reason left to love this world,
yet you still choose to love it —
that is when your true nature is revealed.

To be cruel is a choice;
to love is who you truly are.

Listening to Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto performed by one of the greatest pianists, Zoltán Kocsis.
This masterpiece was composed by Rachmaninov after his attempted suicide, and he dedicated it to his physician.
