American writer in London. San Francisco born. Proud family to two lovely trans humans.
Have you ever felt chased around the house by your cat? Trying to locate somewhere to work where they DON'T want to screw up what you're writing? How do you stand up to the little buggers?

Bless you, Bluesky people for covering SCOTUS so closely. You're doing the lord's work - or the work of an old-school newspaper. God I love this platform.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame.

The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight.

It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

Someone said SCOTUS Chief Justice Roberts had already written (somewhere) that impounding budget-approved funds is unconstitutional. Can anyone in law/academia on Bluesky concur or site this? I guess we just have to hope Barrett and/or Kavanaugh support this view.

Curious to know why there is so much cycling news on Bluesky. Thoughts? It feels intentional. I'm not following any of these people, yet my feed is chock full of cycling stuff. Weird.

Just sent my daughter out the door in the rain with the dog to the groomer...on the wrong day. Feeling super dumb and guilty. I think this calls for some home baked cookies. Right?

American Idiom Inquiry: How many generations back to you have to go before one of your relatives said "as all get-out." E.g. She's as pushy as all get-out. It's probably regional - Midwestern. My grandmother, born ~ 1910 said it a lot.

Is SciFi best marketed independently? Or are there still agents who believe in rep'ing SciFi? Seems to me you need to be prepared to publish non-traditionally in many instances. Am I wrong?

Fascinating "Fraud Fog" mindset describing this woman's financial victimization. The term could equally apply to the right-wing media that sucks in countless older Americans. "They give you a script." Of course they do.

For those who write fiction, how often do you find yourself jettisoning a story because you fall out of love with it? Or just get stuck. Is this as common as I think it is? Or a symptom of immaturity?
