And as far as I can tell, what I expeienced was very much on the less bad side of the spectrum. I still cried the first time I talked to someone who understood I might need people to come to me rather than me going to them.

Before I got CFS, I figured that if you get sick, you go to the doctor and either they fix it, or if for some reason they can't they point you in the direction of what to do next

I've been listening to a podcast called "The History of Philosophy (without any gaps)" on and off for the last serveral years, and this is pretty much how it handles this, with a long section on philosophy in the Islamic world in between late antiquity and the Middle Ages.
