As a platform agnostic, I don't limit myself to one PC gaming platform. My year in review from Playnite:

After changing to 2160p and some mods it looked 10 times better... how quickly you get used to higher resolutions and it really does feel like you can't really go back... or it really was an issue with 1080p on a 4K monitor... but it was jarring, especially the aliassing.

If the next one is another long one I'm pretty sure I'll playing it into 2026.

But I did skip most of the timed missions.
Without the mods there would be a lot of backtracking and I think it might have taken me a few dozen additional hours.
With mods I enjoyed it, but it still took me almost 50 hours.
I think this might be the last game I finished in 2025.

I especially liked the Player characters from the previous game now being involved as Story NPCs.
I played Roland last time and this time Axton, so basically the same archetype. I found the main story engaging, and I tried to do as much of the side missions as possible.

The only addon I didn't do yet because I don't have it is the Fight for Sanctuary one. For the others I skipped the Tiny Tina one because I own the standalone and I plan to play it there. I also skipped the Arena themed addon, the in-game arenas I also skipped, too little story to justify it.

This makes it seem you have double the session length in Eternal vs TDA

Rolling back to the November drivers has fixed the issues as some forum threads implied.

PC Gaming...
I love the tinkering but I also hate the tinkering some times... it can be especially annoying when you have several issues that turn out not to be related after all.

Anyway, I had a fun 51 hour romp over all the islands.

Just two more Piranha Bytes' games left for me to play now...

The Real Enhanced Mod I basically only used for graphics enhancements. I really prefer the insides to be a bit darker. Without it the torches really don't get used while in previous games they were essential.
Together with my OLED and RTX HDR it really improves the game a lot.

I was taken aback a bit by the graphics and compared to contemporary games I played like Far Cry 4 and AC: Black Flag it's a bit rough. Luckily there were several graphics mods I applied, ultimately I landed on:

Improves Risen 3 in every way.

Even if the dialog doesn't always reflect the way you came by the object correctly.

The keyboard and mouse combat didn't jell with me this time and the delayed animations, made me decide to switch to an Xbox Controller instead.

On easy the combat was easy, and that's just how I like it.

exploration. This seems to be the more natural way the quest would work because the dialog side sometimes doesn't make sense (how would someone know that object is hidden there and why would you get a direct quest marker to the exact location).

But as I say in this way it does reward exploration.

but you will ultimately also get their help in the Alliance.

The Open-ness of the quest does sometimes causes weird dialog but it's also what makes other types of play rewarding. I'm quite an explorer in this game and most of the time important quest objectives had already been found by me through

There are two kind of 'fake' factions in Pirates and Inquisition (the two factions of Risen 2), you are automatically a Pirate but they can only help with the Alliance and not really with the Soulsearch. And you won't initially be able to recruit the Inquisition for the Alliance
December 13, 2025 at 1:23 PM
You will however not have access to their faction armor and high level skill trainers.

The main quests seem to be:
-The Alliance (get all the faction ships to get supremacy over the ghost fleet)
-Soulsearch (get help from all the factions for the ritual to reunite with your soul).
December 13, 2025 at 1:23 PM
There are three major factions and I basically joined the first I came across. This basically unlocks their skills for you. But because the game is about coalition building against the greater threat most quests seem to be open to you also in the other factions.

Titan Lords will tie in later, but ultimately this Titan Lord is basically just a Necromancer.
There is a more personal backstory where you have to get your soul back, even though being soulless doesn't really hamper you in anyway (except maybe for a reset of your skills at the start).
December 13, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Anyway, back to Risen 3. A bit confusing at the start as after a while I figured out I was a different character than the last Risen, Patty is now my sister and not just a companion. Also while called Titan Lords it seems the Shadow and Underworld are your enemy now...

The Embracer Disaster: the plan to buy up all mid-size publishers to then present the whole package to a Saudi state fund (so SA can pivot to entertainment) only to the Saudis say no thanks right at the finish line. They seem to be going for EA now instead.
