I think that is mostly what substack is, despite people treating it like it's news media. You can pretty much write anything there (including some stuff I'd rather not be connected to) I'm sure people have found some kind of substitute though.

I do have one of those old spindle carriers from my sisters that has 45s all piled up on top of each other. And I remember how we would pile up lp's on the record players. I don't think that really did a whole lot of damage. I think most of the scratches were from tossing them around.
