And Juliana Wahlgren of @eapneurope.bsky.social reminds us that while the participation of people experiencing in democracy is key „it is not fair to demand from people in poverty to prioritize democratic processes over their immediate needs.“

Based on the analysis of national reports, EAPN members identified key action points to ensure that social protection systems are addressed in a systemic way. We believe that taking a systemic approach to social protection is essential for shaping public policies that can eradicate poverty.

Millions of women, such as migrants, single mothers, disabled women, domestic violence survivors, Roma women, people deprived of liberty, among others, are missing from EU poverty statistics. That means they’re also missing from policy solutions.
