But his argument on govt borrowing more to build homes leaves the old v new Labour debate behind. Radical is not the same as ‘New’ - it recognises that the market alone cannot deliver

New Labour again did little to reverse Conservative changes in 1980s bar restrictions on right to buy discounts (which govt is also doing now). It resisted any attempt to allow councils to build again - moves towards that only came post Blair

Agree with his argument on council housing and government borrowing - but isn’t it a bit Old Labour in his terms (not a bad thing)?

New Labour rejected changes to the post 1988 deregulation of the private rented sector as a way of appealing for more investment - but the arguments he makes against RRA are the standard ones against forms of rent regulation
