New Labour rejected changes to the post 1988 deregulation of the private rented sector as a way of appealing for more investment - but the arguments he makes against RRA are the standard ones against forms of rent regulation

Think it goes a bit too far in (almost) suggesting supply is a red herring but surely correct to focus on demand. Don’t get this bit though - why would it not be on the political agenda for a govt with growth as its no 1 mission?

Still struggling to reconcile these headline numbers for MHCLG budgets with 'biggest boost' rhetoric about Affordable Homes Programme etc. If capital £ only £700m higher in 2029/30 than in 2025/26 how do we get there - something else cut?

No mention that I can see of contentious issues for DWP - two-child limit, benefit cap, LHA freeze - but there is a plan to turn Household Support Fund into a new Crisis and Resilience Fund incorporating discretionary housing payments. Not sure how this compares with £ before
