State troopers in riot gear just plowed into the crowd, started arresting protesters and clergy.

Crowd here has grown, and people are fired up with chants. Broadview PD and ISP trying to push people out of the street/maintain the "protest zone." Someone plays the accordion.

This is what that looks like in practice—protesters are still here, they and press have been sequestered to these two corners where they are "not protesting."

Note: the city of Broadview has imposed a curfew on protest here outside the detention center.

Free speech hours (even in the "allowed" area boxed in by cement barricades here) don't start until 9am.
