i just noticed the face in the background of the first panel.

LET'S FUKCING GOOOOOOOOO love the red eyes second panel love the "oh you THOUGHT mf" vs akechi so self-assured yet wholly unaware of the Horrors

they foil and reverse each other's progression. joker is only experiencing freedom for the first time and is consumed by it, and akechi was already at rock bottom and is struggling out of the pit he made for himself. joker is kind and easygoing and deprived. akechi is violent and hostile and wise

the freedom is just so tantalizing, even if it's not really freedom at all. freedom of critical thought and the necessity to heal and move forward. but he doesn't care about the difference, and that just feeds into his distortion

distortions being one's truest emotions and beliefs, and paralleling shadows from persona. the disturbingly fast slide from denial to acceptance to indulgence bc this IS him and there's nothing keeping him from going deeper and losing himself to it.
