100%. The disparity between how difficult it is to sell work that could in any way be labeled pornographic, + the stereotype of porn as the place where the money is, is crazy-making

Sexuality is a legitimate part of the human condition. To explore, express, reflect, indulge, and enjoy it is just as legitimate as any other experience and should never be shamed . ( let alone have someone debarked for)

& passive income is even harder to make when your work is nsfw. Limited-to-nonexistent storefronts both digital and irl, and those that do sell our work are always on the precipice of banning it per paypro regulations.

Any success that adult artists have is in spite of our genre, not because of it

Oh all the privilege of being cut off from traditional publishers and most public art spaces! How lucky are we!

"Instant followers" but only on the niche sites with small userbases because we can't post on big-name social media
"Cash" but only if we're very careful and don't disclose too much on our profiles/invoices

Also let's not forget about all the brand deals and sponsorships!

Literally! Even if the audience was easy to get (and it’s not), how the hell do you translate that to regular payouts when every traditional publishing company AND nontraditional online storefronts shun all your work?

Exactlyyy.

Go on. If it’s that easy, do it. I will wait 😌

Man it reminds me of traditional artists that assume digital art is easy & automatic but have never actually tried it themselves. Many metaphors to be had about devaluing whatever experience isn’t your own

I totally agree! I think that’s the other frustrating aspect— the attitude that nsfw artists draw nsfw for attention and not for personal fulfillment.

Like cmon, I still drew porn when it was in my sketchbook with 0 audience. It’s just fun to draw!
