Today I honor Martin Luther King Jr., I mourn the passing of Cecile Richards, and I celebrate the birthday of David Lynch, whose family has invited us all to join in a ten-minute meditation at 12:00 noon pacific time (3:00pm eastern) to partake in David’s commitment to the joy of creativity.

My mother contracted polio in 1950 before the vaccines. In our house Dr. Salk was revered. My mother had many flaws but she never wanted other families to suffer as our family did. #polio

In the original version of Directing Actors I referred to Emotional Event as essential to storytelling. My students pressed me over and over for clarification—what is an Emotional Event? In Directing Actors 25th Anniversary Edition, I did my best to explain. #filmmaker #filmmaking
