This is important. CBC isn’t perfect, but it’s more striking than ever watching it lately and comparing it to other sources how important it is to keep Canada’s national broadcaster strong and independent.
CBC/Radio-Canada is a pillar of our Canadian identity.

We’re going to strengthen our public broadcaster with more long-term funding, and a modernized mandate — to deliver more local news and keep Canadians better informed during emergencies.

Everybody keeping up with this?

Ireland just joined Finland, Denmark, the UK, and Germany in issuing warnings to its citizens about travel to the United States.

Travel warnings from additional European nations are anticipated in the days ahead.

Trump refused to release his tax returns like normal, because he knew what was in them and what they revealed about him and his business dealings.

Poilievre is still refusing to get the normal security clearance, I assume, for the same reason.
Today would be a good day for Pierre Poilievre to prove to Canadians that he’s actually capable of passing the same, standard, normal security check and getting the security clearance he’s refused to get.

Until he does, I’m assuming it’s because he knows that, for some reason, he can’t pass it.

SLIGHTLY LOWER!?

Dropped from 45% to 44%.

That’s it?

I get the US media bubble, but ARE YOU KIDDING?
Trump's approval rating slips as Americans worry about the economy

One of the hardest things to watch, as the United States circles the drain with the real potential of taking the world with it, is the unrelenting debate about whether the Democrats were too woke, or not woke enough?

I would’ve voted for a literal potted plant to help keep Trump from power.

When Trump talks about illegally taking Gaza and turning it into “The Riviera of the Middle East,” on top of the genocide, war crimes and batshit insanity that would represent, it’s probably worth remembering that before his fascism and everything else, Trump was an utterly horrible land developer.

So for my American friends who are SO CONFUSED:

Poilievre is the pro-Trump fuck who is the leader of our Conservative Party. He wants to be Prime Minister.

But he needs to be a Member of Parliament in addition to PM, and this is the guy running in his local riding to unseat him from Parliament.
If you’re Canadian and you want Poilievre to lose, Bruce Fanjoy is running against him and you can donate to help his campaign.

Just because Trump has “paused” tariffs on Canada for 30 days, it doesn’t mean we should stop EMERGENCY-LEVEL work to:

- Remove provincial trade barriors.
- Significantly diversify our trade globally and mitigate the damage any U.S. Govt can do to us.
- Strengthen our ability to defend ourselves.

In the incredible uncertainty and turmoil that Trump has created here in Canada, I’m frankly furious with political opportunists like Doug Ford in Ontario and Pierre Poilievre across Canada, who have either forced their people into a cynical, expensive & distracting early election, or would like to.

Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

Plant a lot more urban trees.
According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150,000 trees have been planted and 45 hectares of parks created in the city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to and manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.

Plant a lot more urban trees.

Coal mining in the Rocky Mountains?
The Alberta Government now wants to allow coal mining in the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains.

Coal mining.

COAL MINING!

IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS!

They tried this is 2020 but backed down due to huge public outrage. They’re now trying again.

Spread the word. Let them hear you.

IMPORTANT: If you live in the United States or Canada, you’ve probably heard Trump‘s constant claim that the United States is “subsidizing” Canada. It’s wrong of course, but here’s the best explanation I’ve seen about how & why it’s wrong. PLEASE WATCH & SHARE IT A LOT. Kudos to Andrew Chang & CBC.

The #ClimateCrisis isn’t an on/off switch. It’s a dial. An exponential dial. The less we do and the slower we are, the worse it will be. This has never been hard to understand.
A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting.

Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.
