The book is mildly all over the place, but in a way that feels like a genuine conversation and thought process. It progresses nicely, but I couldn’t tell you what the chapter was supposed to be focused on by the end. Everything was just smooth and worked. It was like talking to someone who is super passionate about a subject. There were asides that were clearly marked, there were references, there were personal experiences. It was exactly the sort of reading that gets under my skin and makes a home in my body. I need more of Doyle.

She's got a gun. It's pretty glamorous actually. Junior Samples' cover to "The Best of Junior Samples." This Lynn Breedlove bit about the relationship between second-wave lesbian feminism and third-wave queer/sex-radical/sex-positive feminism is really good in how it talks about the shift in terms of generational dynamics, not just warfare.
LYNN BREEDLOVE: Lesbians were pissed at us. They were all like, you're stomping around on all this work we've done. You're wagging rubber dicks, getting blow jobs, talking about boinking, fisting -- it was just wrong to them. Sex-radical dykes -- it was the opposite of what they had been doing. It's like, an elbow -- a tit, what? It's my pecs, so what?" I should be able to get a blow job, I should be able to fuck with a rubber dick, I should be able to do all that stuff because it's my body. I'm in charge, right? That's what you said, mom. It was totally like a child and their mom, y'know. You're hitting puberty, and you start fighting and start rebelling, and then the mom doesn't like it, and the kid is like, "You don't like it?
