Well, just after posting this I realized the image has alt text where it explains that it is, indeed, diffraction. Amazing!

What are those colors?? The only star I see "changing colors" so noticeably is Canopus and I still find it really strange. Is it all atmospheric diffraction or do you process the image in some special way?
