As a Fulbright alumni (two years as a Ph.D student at Indiana University and as a postdoc visiting scholar at the University of Utah) this feels soul-crushing and counter to everything positive the United States stands -or, rather, stood- for.
Just got an email from the Fulbright Association. As of right now, funding has been cut off to 12,500 US citizens currently abroad and and more than 7,400 foreigner scholars and students in the United States
