This is the right take. Too many are thinking in democratic terms, which would be to prove innocence.
Instead in right-wing authoritarianism, the goal is clarity of heirarchy. Showing that this is not someone of the "in-group" and that the use of force was justified.

Do we have any idea who is running this account? I saw someone on X figured out Tricia McLaughlin has final say on all DHS comms, but not necessarily the person posting.

You could just ignore him? I know the US did that to the Australian Ambassador Kevin Rudd for 6 months or so. Given them a taste of their own meds.
Don't meet with him, ignore the embassy. If they want to act like children, put them in time out. Deal with them when they are done with their tantrum.

In the Australian example, I am not sure the public fully understands the long term ramifications of staying vs leaving the commonwealth and what that means for the country’s security.
