Don’t forget! Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear Callais v. Landry — a case that could gut the Voting Rights Act by stripping key protections against racial discrimination. I spoke with Sophia Lin Lakin of the @aclu.org about what this could mean for voters.

The Supreme Court is back in session 🫤 — and one of the first major cases on its docket could gut what’s left of the Voting Rights Act. Callais v. Landry (Oct 15) targets Section 2, which protects voters from racial discrimination.

I spoke with Sophia Lin Lakin of @aclu.org about what’s at stake.

And I had to read this quote from Ida B. Wells at least a half dozen times. It’s that powerful. Watch my full chat with Dr. Keisha N Blain, here: Electorette.substack.com

Remember when Trump said on national TV that he trusted Putin over U.S. Intellegence Agencies? Perhaps people should have listened to Hillary instead of whatever misogyny-laden drivel folks were listening to back in 2016.

We should be going in the direction of DC statehood, but this is the exact opposite. If successful, it would make the U.S. entirely ungovernable, and create a nightmare like it did in Honduras. pt2

I feel like it’s a little early to be on the “both parties are the same” train — that usually starts about 3 months before big elections — but Doss.Discourse (who I wish was on BlueSky) has a message.

Every congressional Democrat opposed the #BigUglyBill.
Republicans? They rolled over—giving Trump carte blanche to strip vital services from their own constituents.

Here, Ofirah Yheskel explains why the budget bill is a perfect example of why we need to elect more Democratic governors @demgovs.org

I get why some folks are disappointed Kamala Harris isn’t running for governor—she’s a fighter, and Dem govs are on the front lines. That’s why the governor's races in 2025 & 2026 matter—governors are our last line of defense. I spoke with Ofirah Yheskel of @demgovs.org about these races.
