I’m not shocked. I’ve come to understand the cowardice of the Republican Party un the Trump Era.

Trump voters in 2024 were either a part of the MAGA cult (and thus saw Jan 6 as a necessity) or weighed Jan 6 as a lesser problem compared to their powerlessness in the face of economic issues stemming from the post-Covid economy. Trump spoke to their id.

He associates Medicaid with the shame of poverty and by asking that rhetorical question he thinks that most people would answer no. But there's a not insignificant percentage of people who understand the benefits of a single-payer non-profit-driven insurance plan.

I'm trying to think if "pretty" had ever been an important qualification for that post. I'm coming up with nothing. Poor Sean Spicer. Even the Easter Bunny costume didn't help.

Is it due to costs going up or is it due to corporations and the mega-wealthy donating funds to it to get on Trump's good side?
December 17, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Or another way of looking at it is that Trump's will is law and the Supreme Court better get behind that "truth".

The issue is that the Republican Party has been using emotions to gain votes since at least Nixon. Emotions are more powerful to many people than rationality.

And how were academics checking sources before Google came along? Did Google really kill them all off? 😭
December 16, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Well, if Trump is the State and Trump wants to get bribes in exchange for removing tariffs, I can see his point.

Because of their global scale, I'd argue that they are worse than the robber barons of America's Reconstruction and Gilded Ages.

As its only recipient, clearly it is. 🤷‍♂️

Is Lenin a Marxist hero or a Russian hero? I guess he’s a Russian hero now. We’re no longer going to talk about the Proletariat.

Yeah, and then if one does have a passport on them, there's no guarantee that a federal LEO won't say "this looks like a forgery". These are bullies who have been given power backed by the state. They can do anything.

I think Putin has a legitimate fear of being fragged (killed by his own soldiers).
December 12, 2025 at 1:57 PM
I can see some high schooler employing this strategy in Debate Club, get in trouble for it, then point to Kristi Noem (or countless other Trump officials)
December 11, 2025 at 8:25 PM
It’s shocking that the Trump administration didn’t inadvertently blow her boat up regardless.
December 11, 2025 at 8:23 PM
I guess in an ideal world from Trump’s perspective Russia invades Europe and Trump gets his white immigrants fleeing the war? 🤷‍♂️

If feminism really is about egalitarianism, as many have claimed, it’s understandable that the women I described above would dislike it. They want a segregated society where they’re on top, but can’t find that political home anywhere.
December 11, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Imagine that you’re a ambitious woman attracted to the Republican Party because of its racism, homophobia, transphobia, Christian supremacy, and pandering to the wealthy only to be stymied by its misogyny. That’s rough. Thoughts and prayers.

I can see it as the three super-powers described in Orwell's 1984: The US, Russia, and China all having carved up the world into their spheres of influence.

It can also be argued he’s involved in human trafficking with the people he’s deporting, especially the ones with court orders not to.
